COACHING SESSION: ATTACKING FREE-KICK

1) The ball is played out by the kicker to his right.

2) Yellow moves onto the ball and pretends to shoot but instead plays the ball back to the left.

3) His team-mate moves on to the pass and strikes the ball first-time and scores. The goalkeeper is wrong-footed believing the shot will come from the left-side of his wall.

Organisation:
- Half football field + normal size goal.
- Personal choice of coach for the n° of attackers to be included. The session can be rehearsed with or without defenders (at the beginning).

Variations:

- There are many variations of free-kicks involving different decoy runs and types of shot, these will be eventually covered by this site.
- Click here to see variation 2, variation 3, variation 4.

Tips:

- Concentrate on the delivery of the passes, speed, angle...
- Concentrate on the quality of the shot - always hit the target.
- The player who goes to shoot but in fact plays the ball to his left must really emphasise that he is the one to shoot in order to fool the defence before playing the ball to his team-mate on his left.

- The player in the wall should move off the wall in order to fool the defence even more into thinking that the shot will come from this side of the pitch.
