MATCH ANALYSIS: BAYERN MUNICH v 1860 MUNICH (13/10/01) - GOAL ELBER
 

1) The free-kick is taken short then played into Sergio who has dropped off the defence.

2 ) Sergio plays a first-time ball through to Elber.

4) Elber, originally in the wall, breaks away into the space behind the wall and scores with a well hit first-time shot.

Conclusions:

- Excellent original free-kick play. Bayern manage to create the spare player through disguising their options. The timing of the actions and movements is perfect and Elber finishes well with a first-time shot.
- The defenders are caught out through their lack of marking on Sergio, as he moves away from goal, they perhaps feel he is less danger. Also, there is a great deal of space left behind the wall which may have been covered better.
