MATCH ANALYSIS: RAPID BUCHAREST V PARIS ST GERMAIN (25/09/01) - GOAL BY ALOISIO (PSG)
 

1) A long high pass from the back into Aloisio.

2 ) Aloisio is first to the ball and chests it down to Anelka who is unmarked. Aloisio after playing the pass, immediately spins off his marker & makes a run behind the defence to receive the return ball.

4) Anelka hits the first time pass over the defence & Aloisio scores comfortably by lobbing the goalkeeper.

Conclusions:

- Excellent one touch play combination between the two centre-forwards. The give and go action catches the defence out and allows Aloisio to score. Shows importance of being first to the ball and how attackers must always look for an immediate return pass.
- The defence is caught out by the run off the ball and nobody follows the initial run by Aloisio. The defenders could have got tighter to Anelka to prevent him from playing the pass. It would be also interesting to know why the defence is playing so deep.
